A celebration of Chinese culture, celebrating the Lunar New Year with Christchurch people showing their love of China.
Thousands of Christchurch people turned out to experience the Chinese culture surrounded by hundreds of vibrantly coloured lanterns.
A free event which is for everyone and featured music, performance, dance, food and fun.
China Southern Airlines were there running a competition along with a fantastic lantern display.
Our festival of 2019 started at the Bridge of Remembrance walking along the newly finished Promenade to the Christchurch Town Hall opened to the public the same week.
The festival ran alongside the river Avon with performances on stages providing entertainment for all attending.
As well as lanterns International craft vendors from Zhejiang handicrafts displayed

- Ou Sculpture
- Huzhou Kite Making
It was an outstanding three day festival strengthening our city’s understanding of the Chinese culture.
