Organisers of the April fundraising shows for those affected by the March 15 Christchurch mosque attacks, announced on Friday afternoon that all the tickets for the April 13 edition at Auckland's Spark Arena had been snapped up – a little over 24 hours after they went on sale.
They also revealed Sol3Mio's Amatai Pati and Moses Mackay and Don McGlashan had been added to the already stellar line-up.The latest trio will join Lorde, The Adults, Bic Runga, Shihad, The Exponents, Marlon Williams, Mitch James, Shapeshifter and Six60 for the Garden City show, which like Auckland's, is being hosted by New Zealander of the Year Mike King.
Although it wasn't clear how many Christchurch tickets remained 24 hours after going on sale, it was only possible to order the maximum allowance of six tickets in the covered, seated stands at the back and to the left of the stage area. Seats on the right were limited to 1 ticket per purchase by 4pm. The general standing area, on the stadium's pitch, was sold out.
Promoter Brent Eccles said the team felt they had to "step up together and do something to help the devastated families but also to show that we are one country".
Live Nation's Mark Kneebone echoed this sentiment, saying they will "use music to honour the ones we have lost, their families and all affected by this tragedy".
"Music has the power to heal and bring us together in ways nothing else does. It is a unifying force across cultures, languages and religions."
Tickets for the Christchurch concert are now on sale through Ticketek.
