Washpen falls approximately one hour from Christchurch located on private land.

We were met at an old woolshed by the owner where a small fee was taken.  A brief description was provided where the track takes you through an ancient Volcanic Canyon which is now a reserve filled with lush native bush and wonderful bird life. This un-spoilt area is easily accessed via constructed tracks, steps and walkways.

We were told to take walking sticks provided if needed and given an estimate of 2 hours to complete the track.  However as we are fast walkers and most of the track is easy to negotiate we were done in 90 minutes. There are some steep areas and good footwear is a must.

Facilities are provided for corporate group bonding exercises as well as other functions.  There is a large pond at the finish where you can sit and rest.

A large amount of effort and money has been put into the walk and it is well worth doing.
